Travel – What's going on in your hotel room? Find out in this revealing video.
The Chicago Sun-times put cameras inside rooms and watched the Maids not washing the glasses. We traveled with the military for years, and we always took our own bed clothing, and coffee, and dishes. We didn't know about the filthy glasses. We did it because we traveled with children, and they adjust to changing areas if they have their own things..
Humm Is this another job Americans refuse to do? My wife had an issue with the Bedspread in our room and went down to the Managers office and blew a fuse at him. Turned out the( Illegal )maids didn't change the bed linenes just made the bed and the bedspread had blood on it. She stood there and made the manager change everything to clean linen. Boy those were good ole days. He sure thought she was going to hit him with that iron.
One time, my wife and I were in Reno either during labor day weekend or memorial day weekend. All the rooms were booked except one room for which we payed over $100. There were noodle macaroni all over the carpet and the sheets were totally filthy and the sink and shower drains were stopped up. I couldn't even sleep on the bed and started to itch all over. It was about 3:00 am when we checked in and we checked out by 6:00 am and slept in the rental car for a few hours after that.
I worked maintenance at a mid-range hotel for a couple of years and saw that stuff first hand. I don't know how many times I was called after the housekeepers went home to change bedding or clean something due to customer complaints.
The poor housekeepers are paid squat and they have a quota of rooms to clean. Turnover was high.
Management in these hotels are fully aware of such problems but an occasional refund or a free night is far more economical than having adequate staff at decent wages.

Oh no! Better ask Santa for some traveling drinking glasses. Bring some Lysol, too. ; )
Travel coffee mugs are great to have as if you drive alot it becomre your personal cup every where, I have 7 as I keep misplacing them, then find them 1/2 full at a later date
She had enough time to talk on her cell phone but not enough time to do her job correctly. How filthy, horrid and dangerous. This is just plain sorry lazy uncaring people. Hotel officials need to be accountable. Maybe they need to fire their help and start over????? I will bring my own or buy paper cups. Thanks AlphaGnosis for the heads up, boy I will never look at hotels the same way again.
Had a science teacher tell me that semen glows under an ultraviolet light. He also said that if you want to see something unreal, take an ultraviolet light into any motel room, turn off the regular lights, and turn on the ultraviolet light!
Unreal! On the bedspread, the carpet, the walls, the drapes, even on the ceiling! Don't ask me how, but it was an education to say the least!
While you are not using the drinking glasses be sure to NEVER touch the tv remote without first putting on gloves.
Don't sleep on the bed cover or touch the TV remote either. Try to stay off the carpet and toilet seat too. Actually, just sleep in your car.
First thing I do is wipe off the remote and the telephone reciever with a hot soapy wash cloth.
Then take a flamethrower and disinfect the room.
"Actually, just sleep in your car."
I just busted a gut...LOL! That was funny.
...and true.
MAJOR YUCK ALERT!!!
...always travel with Bacardi 151...great disinfectant; and after a few drinks, you won't notice the bugs...
Make sure the rum is shaken...not stirred.
I no longer drink booze...and no longer see bugs...Hee hee hee...
You have no problem being one though do you lol :-)
And what's wrong with bugs you guys are making me feel bad. :}
Awwww, we wuv you. :D
We had reservations at a name brand hotel in British Columbia about 20 years ago. The owners were immigrant citizens and it seems they had different ideas about hotels.
We walked into the room, and it wasn't very clean and the beds looked rumpled. The sheets hadn't been changed from the previous visitors. When we complained he couldn't understand what the fuss was about.
When my husband and I were on a trip cross-country, we stopped at a decent hotel in Texas. I crashed on one of the beds, only to feel a million little bugs hop onto my legs and arms and start biting me! We immediately went to the front desk and demanded our money back (it had been all of 5 minutes) and they had the nerve to refuse! We showed them the bite marks all up and down my arms and legs and they still refused, and my husband started to raise his voice so they threatened to call the cops. My husband said, "Yes, please do that right away, I want them to see her bites" and suddenly we had our money back. That was SO gross. I hate staying hotels. We mostly only rent condos now. At least we can wash the sheets and dishes ourselves, and let me tell you, that is the FIRST thing we do when we arrive!
