In a sign that energy costs will affect behavior, however, AAA said travelers are planning to stay closer to home and take shorter trips. Travel-related expenses for U.S. households are expected average nearly $600.

I'm using more gas in my lawnmower than my car now. Much like Richard Gere, in Officer and a Gentleman... "I have no where else to go!"

      FIGHT THE POWER...

      whoever that is

What's all the complaining about? if you are not willing to cut back. Silly

If everyone would do some cutting back it would make a big difference.

In my area the price went up to $3.34 a gallon today. It was $3.23 yesterday.

No there not. Most people wont be driving anywhere that weekend. Im not when gas is already 3.50 here! How do these people know that everyone will be driving on that day? Did they do a study on it?? Give me break, its all hype. More reasons to hike up the prices. bla bla bla

I sure won't be going any where. It costs me $48 to $50 a week just to go to work even if I don't have errands to do and I get 30 MPG.

I dont blame anyone for not going anywhere on memorial day weekend. I think that we should deduct our gas from the insurance we have to pay. Since it is a law no one voted on and maybe just drop full coverage completely or maybe just drop it intirely. that would put a lot of money back in our pockets. But, seriuosly, the oil companies are ripping us off as gas should have never gone above 1.30 a gallon.

we need to reintroduce the grey motor. It was a motor that was suppose to go into production in the 70's and never did because the gas and motor companies are working together. This motor was electric and connected to the transmission of a car and ran everything including a heater without having to stop and charge it. Why is the government not mentioning this and having it go back into production?

Between gas to go to work and food to put in the refrigerator, I'm broke. No Memorial Day trip going on here.

But I'll bet our illustrious leaders in Washington won't be sitting at home on the back porch with their feet in the kiddie pool fanning themselves because they can't afford to turn on the A/C

Just like cigarettes, we are addicted. Doesn't matter what the cost, we will keep on paying. Do we have a choice?

I can honestly say that I might still go somewhere for Memorial Day...as horrible as the gas prices are, it's still a holiday weekend and I want to get away!
